Fat Transfer
Fat transfer is an important component to facial rejuvenation. It is done by harvesting fat from a donor site such as the abdomen, love handles, or hips. It is then prepared by removing the extra materials such as blood and other fluids, down to its purest form.

Considering a Fat Transfer
One of the key events in the aging process is loss of volume. Our face actually looses fat and bone as we age. When that occurs in combination with loss of skin tone, the face appears to fall or droop or sag. As a result, one of the most important methods of restoring a youthful face is adding volume. This can be accomplished by the use of fillers which are a great option for a quick and temporary fix. Another option is fat grafting!
What is Fat Transfer?
Fat is removed from another area of the body, such as the abdoman, to be placed in a needed area on the face. The fat is then placed in special syringes in preparation for injection into the face. Fat can be used under the eyes, in the cheeks, temples forehead, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and chin and lips. An important reason why fat is so beneficial is that not only does it provide volume, but it also brings with it stem cells.
Stem cells, over the last few years, have been shown to enhance the health and beauty of the skin where they are injected, by replacing damaged cells and stimulating the growth of new cells.
A fat transfer can be performed as a stand-alone procedure or in combination with blepharoplasty, facelift, brow lift, and other facial procedures, to enhance the final result.
Personal Consultation
During your consultation, Dr. Bundrick and O’Neal will carefully evaluate your medical history, concerns and goals to determine whether a facelift is right for you.
They may also explain additional procedures that can be performed alongside your facelift that will help you achieve your desired look. For example, facelifts are frequently combined with procedures such as: chin implant, fat grafting, blepharoplasty, lip lift, and brow lift.
How Will My Plastic Surgeon Evaluate Me?
In your initial consultation your plastic surgeon will evaluate your face, including the skin and underlying bone, and discuss your goals for the surgery.
The Results
A fat transfer usually takes several hours. You should arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery and stay with you for a day or two.
